Motor Authority Gets a Glimpse of 2019 Subaru Forester

If the next-generation Forester prototype spotted by the luxury and performance auto aficionados alongside its Honda CR-V and Volkswagen Tiguan testers is any indication, we'll be in for quite the performance treat.

2019 Forester looks at quick glance to be a pared version of upcoming 3-row, 7-seat Subaru Ascent SUV, a concept vehicle unveiled earlier in 2017, taking size-enhanced cues from the outgoing Forester. As the modular new Subaru global platform is already built into the 2017 Subaru Impreza compact as well as the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek SUV, it's likely 2019 Forester will incorporate it, too. That means some promise for noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) level reduction as well as the potential for an efficient, distance-going hybrid build.

But the same questions persisted for our Milford, CT Subaru dealer as for Motor Authority. Will a sport option akin to Subaru Forester 2.0XT appear? Only time will tell. Moreover, what are the prospects for an STI-enhanced Forester tS? With Subaru Tecnica International, the automaker's motorsports division, making strides in the US, it's surely a possibility, especially with the model having previously appeared in Japan with chassis upgrades galore.

Either way, we can hope to see 2019 Subaru Forester roll onto Subaru dealerships in late 2018 for model year 2019. Until then, we'll just have to dream the soon-to-be-more-than-possible dream -- and content ourselves with the drive-time already a world apart behind the wheel of 2018 Forester.
