In our last update concerning the 2015 WRX, this sleek and speedy model was being lauded by the IIHS as a Top Safety Pick. Now, the vehicle is making headlines once again after its recent trip overseas to the 37-mile long Isle of Man TT Course. It was here that Mark Higgins drove a 2011 WRX Impreza back in 2011 to set a record lap speed of 115.36 mph.

This year, Higgins returned to the course with the 2015 WRX STI and was determined to break his own record. He did so by pushing the WRX to its limits to attain a new record speed of 117.51 mph and a lap time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds. See the thrilling run for yourself in the video clip that Subaru just released!

The WRX model that Higgins raced is the same U.S.-spec model found in our Milford, CT. However, it did feature some extra safety features due to the dangerous nature of the race which is why a roll cage, racing seat and harness, fire suppression system, altered dampers and springs for higher speeds and a high decibel straight exhaust for crowd safety were added.

If you're seeking a new vehicle that boasts versatility on and off of the track, come check out the 2015 WRX and the rest of the new Subaru lineup by visiting Dan Perkins Subaru.
