Safety is often a word that is synonymous with Subaru, which comes as little surprise as each model in the new Subaru fleet comes standardly equipped with a plethora of features to have you feeling secure behind the wheel. As a result, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has lauded many Subaru models with their designation of Top Safety Pick.
The latest models to join this prestigious group for the 2014 year are the redesigned 2015 WRX and WRX STI, which just barely arrived here in our Milford, CT showroom. Check out the stunning 2015 WRX in action in its new promotional video from Subaru down below.
The 2015 WRX is standardly equipped with a 2.0.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 268 horsepower when paired with a six-speed manual transmission, while the STI model has a 305 horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
To earn the distinction of Top Safety Pick from the IIHS, the 2015 WRX achieved a rating of "good" in a series of tests which included moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests in addition to the small overlap front test.
"Safety is one of our brand tenets and so we are extremely proud to have earned a TSP rating for our performance models" explains Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc. "We are committed to providing engaging driving together with safety and this award is testament to that commitment."1
