Last month Subaru showed off the "STi Performance Concept" at the New York Auto Show. It wowed audiences and gave enthusiasts a glimpse into what the future of STi could possibly look like. Though the nameplate was absent, the concept was clearly based on the Subaru BRZ, the brand's only rear-wheel drive vehicle and a pure performer.
Though only a concept and one very unlikely to see production, it has been confirmed that a STi version of the BRZ is coming, but there's no official word on when. Here at Dan Perkins Subaru, our dreams have been populated with visions of this BRZ STi, so we compiled some of the features we would most like to see.
First and foremost is a turbocharger. The 200-horsepower of the current Subaru BRZ is definitely plenty, but if we're talking about a car bearing the STi badge, more power is a must, and since turbochargers highlight the ever-popular WRX STi, it only makes sense to include it here.
Secondly, carbon fiber aerodynamic additions. The concept in New York showcased a huge spoiler and copious carbon fiber additions to the front and rear of the vehicle. Not only do these touches add an aggressive style to the overall aesthetic, but they can enhance the efficiency of the vehicle, making for an even more enjoyable experience.
Check out the following video to see more on the currently-available BRZ and be sure to sound off in the comments about what you would like to see in a BRZ STi.
